Engines do burn, fuel systems on engines get hit, splatter fuel all over... FLAME ON!!!
And even worse, some big radials had Magnesium engine crankcases, DOUBLE NASTY FIRES!!!
Don't mean to be contradictory, but its true!!!

And a certain "plane-which-shall-not-be-named" also had magnesium wing parts that caused wings to randomly candle off.
