A question about GVs
« on: August 15, 2009, 10:13:07 AM »
I don't mess around much with GVers, I'm mostly just a furballer.  But occassionally I run into bothersome GVs that have to be taken out.  BTW, my divebombing really sucks but that's for another thread.  Here's the question.  Sometimes I hear "he's turreted" or "he's tracked" and this coming form pilots.  How can you tell?  I'm assuming it involves zooming in but I still don't see it.  Screen shots for examples if you got 'em.

Thanks in advance.

You can tell if a GV it "turreted" when you see a plume of black smoke coming from it and the GV is still moving.  If the engine is knocked out, it will smoke like the turret but obviously the GV won't be moving.  Verifying a "tracked" vehicle involves zooming in to see the GV tipped onto one side (the one with the damaged track).  If the GV is trying to move, it will be a very slow circle around the side with the broken track.

Up an IL2, "setting 37mm convergance to 300". Come in at about a 45% angle to the tank. Start shooting at 400 away, surgically placing about 4 to 8 2 shot volleys in its weak spots, and pull up about 200 away.

Rinse and repeat. Dont even need bombs.
