To answer the original question of this post.....

A new fella that has been on about a week or two I believe said to a bunch of people the other day. "Hey guys, you can all leave, I got this" A CV that was just trying to take port had been sunk and they were feverishly trying to get LVT's in there. It wasn't going to happen as it was well capped but none the less he insisted we all go away.

Earlier that afternoon this same fella was blowing up the country channel trying to get help on how to fire rockets. About 5 people tried to help him for a bout 10 minutes yet he didn't seem to get it for whatever reason.

About 15 minutes after his "I got this" gaff, which brought upon him a slurry of jibs and jabs. Poor kid. He then proceeded to blow up the country channel again asking "HOW DO I FIRE ROCKETS"

We have since appointed supreme commander of all operations for life!

Yes newbs are annoying. We all were little puppies annoying the crap out of the old guys once. But I think that in the game ragging is fine, but in here where there is a good chance of getting help, we should be supportive, and actually help them instead of yelling "USE THE SEARCH" at them. By that I mean we should tell them how to use it, give them tips, and educate them about forum etiquette and culture.

Not 15 minutes ago someone opened a thread with a queston and I said - "I know that" - and off I went and googled it  for a pic and uploaded it with a reply...

At the same time 2 other did exactly the same ( one even loaded the same pic as me 1st heheh).

...and I sat back and thought...WHAT THE...??

If it took 3 of us only a few minutes to find several good answers to the question - What the hell was wrong with the OP finding it himself?
I understand about obscure/not plain view questions but to make absolutley NO effort on your own is pretty lame.

***edit so if I'm not clear - I'm changing my view on "lazy layabout can't get off their posterior" noobs!! PLAIN noobs are OK tho eh!

Yes again. While I admit some need discouragment against a B29 thread, with a blunt instrument if nessecary, most just need some time. If a kid touches a hot stove, do you smash his hand with a hammer or do you patch it up, make him feel better, and then explain that the stove is hot.

Your ad hominem example is straying from a very simple observation from about 2 pages ago.

One reason you can very justifiably ask "obvious" questions to a forum like this is when you want to hear some not just informed but opinionated answers.  It's in those answers that you often find some insight that you'd have missed by reading the textbook rap.  Asking for this kind of novel perspective on an old topic should be encouraged.  Searching for it won't hurt though.  The answer you're looking for might have already been answered.

I support yelling, squelching, shooting, gutting, skinning and quartering of noobs if they are irritating.
