also try www.gpureview.com. i have a theory, if your video card is somewhere near the bottom of the list, you probably need to upgrade your card, or your machine.

Good site I also found this:
Do you qualify for a free HD 4650?Posted By: Steve McBarnes - 12:27:58 Thu, June 11, 2009 - 6 Comments
ATI is settling a lawsuit related to their false claims of HDCP compatibility, which means that many people could be eligible for some free video cards. If you purchased a video card that was made by ATI (not Sapphire, VisionTek, Asus etc.) between January 1, 2003 to March 31, 2006 you should totally submit your authorized claim.

Hey BaldEagl..... kiss my Grits!
Its not a whine when you,ve bought a computer within the last year, and the game suddenly becomes unplayable.

Loved playing, but I am NOT buying another PC, or shelling out another couple hundred dollars for more hardware.

You sure seem in love with that "whine" word, but im sure if your new pc suddenly wouldnt hack it anymore you'd be "whining" too.

I've used the word whine in precisely 34 threads since 2002.  That's 4.8 times per year.  Hardly a love affair.  In over half of those instances it was to qualify something as not being a whine.  If you'd like to peruse the detailed specifics just do a forum search for whine with my BBs name for all forums.

I've said in numerous threads that I sympathise with those who can't currently run the game and have been providing help and advice to get people back up and running.  Furthermore most of the advice I've been giving has nothing to do with buying any new hardware.  Had you bothered to read this post and those linked to it, you would have found that I said if I were in the same boat I'd probably be whining too.

If you are so immature that you can't take the time to read this advice, or even the OP in this thread for that matter, but instead come in here ranting then you can kiss something too but I'm not going to say what in this public forum.

Well said, most of us that are trying to help have not suggested new parts or computer to anyone but those that asked about possible upgrade options. I think that some people need to recall what the first 3 letters of assumption is.

Stephen, if you indeed have bought a computer in the last year (or even 2) Then you really should have little problem running this game (out side of obvious bugs that HTC is working to fix). So, please list your comp specs/model so that those of us here might actually have the ability to see why you may not be able to run the game.

1 last thing to note on this subject. If you bought a computer that was not designed to game, that has only on-board Video and Sound, then you may very well have some issues that might require you picking up a single video card. While there are easily many Motherboards with on-board Video that can run this game, there are infact some that may not be able to. SO if you failed to do any research whatsoever or asked anyone prior to spending your money. This is not HTC's fault, in the future Due Diligence should be in order.

So do us a favor. Make a new thread asking for some info. List your Computer Specs (use the DXdiag) . List off all Anti-Virus/Internet security programs you are currently running. List the problems you are seeing in game. Are you plugged straight into the cable/DSL modem or are you plugged into a router?

If you evaluated the new version on it's first day it was unplayable. It was for me also but since that time many new patches were released to address the many issues. For me with my old graphics card and 5yr old machine it has gotten better every day. Baldeagl's advice for me was invaluable in improving my system. I suggest you look at your system to see what you can do to Improve it's performance. Most systems (mine included) don't come with as much memory as they can handle due to price.

I don't think we need to keep bumping this anymore.  I mostly wanted to get it up there over the weekend when the BBs seemed to be in chaos over the update.  Now that HT, Skuzzy, Pyro, etc. have returned from their weekend stupers  :D we can let them take back over.

AMD athalon 64X2 Duel Core Processor 4400 +
Memory: 2.00GB

OS 149 GB free of 222

Nvidia Gforce 6150SE  nForce430.

On broadband through knowledgy, frame rate issue....pulling only 20fps......which wouldnt be a problem accept that anytime I approach more than one aircraft, {or a cloud} my game begins to stutter even more than normal.
I had an old computer 6 years ago that was equaly as crappy to play on, which resulted in my flying bombers....somthing else im not prepared to go back to.

I tried lowballing all the graphics, and turning off a major portion of programs in task manager, and running the game in very low resolutions, though its a little better I cant read the cockpit instruments at those low settings, and im not prepared to fly like that....
The only thing that helps slightly is turning the ground detail off, and that looks like crap, and results in my not being able to judge distance...., which also results in my slamming into the ground at hi speed.
I cant fire at enemy GV's if my view includes smoke/fire as my fps drops dramaticly resulting in even more stuttering...

Basicly guys, what it comes down to is this,... yeah your gonna help me, Yeh I was helped before..., and the game was somwhat playable.
NOW after purchasing a new PC, these guys throw another "upgrade" at me resulting in my taking several steps back, and I end up losing detail AGAIN, and thats not why I bought this PC.
Im pretty angry, and i've bit my tounge pretty hard since this update... But yeh... plz help me sort this out, but I really doubt ill be running the graphics at anything near the old settings, and I think myself and alot of other players have been alienated by what has transpired for a couple of folks who can afford better PC's.

Oh, and I really dont care how many times the word "whine" has been used, its rude... and assumes that anyone with an issue with this game is indeed "whining" and should shut the hell up.
Im a paying member to, and simply dumping the ground detail IS NOT A SOLUTION... There is no way to judge distance, and the quality of gameplay has taken a nose dive for water with a couple ripples in it, and a couple shadows under trees. :furious

A8Popy made alot of friends, and had alot of good times... but doesnt have money rolling in, and I know its going to take a graphics card to get this thing back where I need it to be... Oh, and AMD just sux.
