The LCA had organized a large-scale bomber mission
that attacked two separate Bishop bases and numbered
around 30-35 strong. We lost a few pilots to discos
during the flight but that was sporadic. Shortly after hitting
the second target though we were hit by a disconnect tsunami
that wiped out 2-thirds of our force of 35 aircraft in an instant!
Half of us were on Vox 182 (fighter escort) and the other
on 183 (bomber force) but both groups experienced
the mass disco at the same time.
Hereafter the dreaded AHII "white screen of death"
will be referred to as the "WSOD".
This occurred at approximately 10 PM EDT on August 1st.
