If you ask me,  it is a waste of time and money that could be well spent ELSEWHERE.  Just because everyone else does it, it does not mean you should hop on the bandwagon too.

Not sure... But I think it is in reference, to the sound and activity of a group of school girls
passing the latest gossip about their classmates, boyfriends, etc... Sorta like a, whispered
Tee Tee giggle, Tee Tee giggle giggle, kinda thing.. If ya get what I mean?

That comes from my youngest son, who says.. "School girls Twitter, MEN DO NOT!!!"

 :D I raised him well!!!!

FaceBook was created for a University (by them) as a sort of interactive yearbook. At first it was students (and staff?) of the university only, then friends of students, until eventually they opened it to the general public.

Twitter, MySpace, Facebook and other sites like it were created solely to let the rest of us know who the fruits are.

I believe it was on the news today that the marines blocked all use of those.

I really do enjoy facebook (once the gay quizzes are blocked).

I keep in better contact with one of my younger brother than I ever have before, which alone makes it worth it.  Plus I now keep in contact & share pictures with friends from decades ago. :) That's so wonderful!

Also, there's local organizations that I'm 'fans' of, which keep data on their upcoming events and photos of past events on there. Those are nice too.

Why in the world would I want anyone to know what I was doing all the time, and why in the world would anyone care what I was doing?

Twitter is pretty appropriately named if you ask me, it's for twits.

I find Twitter and MySpace a bit much. Never-ending spam about useless actions and huge sparkly web-pages with tiled backgrounds made for the 800x600 days and some emo band in the background that you can't find to turn off (bless you, NoScript) is just not something I can stomach.

A clean, white and blue layout that, like TxMom said, lets you block all the little girls taking their quizzes from your news feed and lets you keep in touch with lost-to-distance friends and keep track of things that interest you? Heck yes.

Facebook was enough of a step for me.

I always hated the whole idea of it.... but there's no denying that it makes it easier to keep in touch with friends.

I'm a bit like Nilsen. My profile is private and I only allow close friends on it.

I don't understand twitter. Is it for texting? I don't text and have that function turned off on my phone.
