One of the first of the famous Bf 109F series flown in combat, this Friedrich was the aircraft of Jagdgeschwader 51 Geschwaderkommadore Werner Mölders. Mölders was the top German ace of the Spanish Civil War with 14 victories, and one of the premier aces of the Luftwaffe when he was taken out of action on July 20th 1941 with 101 victories. Mölders was killed in a crash of an He 111 en route to the funeral of Ernst Udet on November 22nd 1941. Immediately following his death JG51 was named after him, a unit which scored over 8,000 victories and contained more Knight's Cross recipients than any other Jagdgeschwader.

I skinned this bird as it was in mid April 1941, with 65 victories on its rudder.

As delivered to JG51-

Didn't the F-1 have a Emil engine, and a MG/FF with 60 rounds in the nose (which jammed almost instantly)?

The F-1 did indeed have the same DB 601N engine carried over from the late E models- this was kept until it was replaced with a DB 601E in the F-4. The main thing about the DB 601E was not so much improved performance, rather that it could be run on lower octane (87 IIRC) fuel rather than the 100 octane C3 required by earlier models of the 109.

I know there are F-2's in game, with both the N engine and the 15mm MG151, so I don't think there would be a problem with the F-1.
