Skuzzy.. objects causing stuttering
« on: August 04, 2009, 10:22:02 AM »
When I was running patch 2, all stuttering went away when using Hi-Res Textures and all Detail on High. My FPS were 60-200 depending. I was not getting any stuttering when panning my views in cockpit.

With patch 3, my frame rates have dropped a little, but not much and not when I pan or get in a real large furball near the ground or over an airfield I get stuttering.

I notice that even when flying at 12k alt, I can pan in my cockpit view looking left, right, back, etc and get stuttering or when I am looking at the ground, it stutters every few seconds.

I think it is when objects like low tree's and building are coming into view, or when getting around airfields. I know others have this same problem. Some bad and some not so bad. Why did it get worse in patch 3?

Any suggestions?

I have a fast system, can play a lot of very intense graphics games at full detail such as COD4 & 5.

System:
Motherboard: DFI Nforce 4 Lan-Party
Memory: 2gb Patriot CAS 2 DDR1 Memory at 400mhz (dual channel)
Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3870 (512mb memory)
CPU: AMD Opteron 180 Dual-Core @ 2.5ghz
Monitor: Hanns-G 22inch LCD

V(ertical)-Sync needs to be Forced On. You also need to make sure that Aces High decides the optimal video settings (switch your settings to application controlled).

I have my video card running AA and AF for application controlled. Also V-Sync is off on the Video Card. Should this be turned on?

In the main Video Settings in Aces High 2, I have V-Sync turned off. I will turn this back on. Correct?

Thanks!

Stuttering stops when Detailed Terrain is turned off. When on it is bad, but gets a little better after flying around, but not as well as patch 2. Patch 2 had fixed my problem with stutters and I was getting great FPS.

Hope there is a new patch out soon.  :aok

Here are the answers from my experience:

1. Go into the tower at, I.E. it is the default. And lower clip board.
Wait about 15 secs doing nothing. Now look right, Did the View stutter as it paned around?
(Yes)

2. Release the right view ,after you have been looking forward,  look right again, was there stuttering this time?
(No, or a small one at most)

3. Turn off detail terrain, Save it by pressing ok, Exit game , then repeat test 1 and 2.

1. (No)

2. (No)

4. Fly online with detail terrain OFF for a while, did almost all you stuttering go away?
(Yes, was very smooth)
