wrong... I know at least 3 people who are running this game on an 8400GS with everything turned on except the shadowing (which is a waste of time anyhow, not to mention only a handful of cards can run this correctly)....and everything maxed out....... still maintaining their 60 frames

note that the 9500GT is a much better card than the 8400GS

I just installed my 9500GT yesterday. I haven't tried the hi-res yet (and probably won't, given the limitations of my monitor) but running at 1024x768 with everything maxed out except shadowing and bump map terrain (which I couldn't see any significant difference with) I'm getting frame rates from 65 to 80. It looks much better than the old version and infinitely better than the new with details off, so I'm more than satisfied with the card.

It also has the advantages of low power use (I could use my stock PSU), compact size (it only takes up the one slot) and low heat emission compared to the high-end cards. Of course I'm not looking for state-of-the-art graphics or running anything more demanding than AH - but I think it's a good fit for my needs.

Will the X4500HD card work? I got a new computer, and it has that card in it. It is a laptop so I need an inexpensive replacment card if that one won't work. It is a Dell insperon 15, better then my old one that just barely works, but not sure about the card.

Oh, now the post in the other thread makes more sense, Nemisis.  It would have been best to start your own thread to minimize the confusion, by the way - but no, onboard graphics (other than some ATI and NVidia on some high end laptops) do not have the ooomph to do anything more than stick figure gaming.  Have you ever heard of Zork?  It would play quite well, most likely...

Thank you, I guess poor graphics will have to suffice for a while.
