Airfield landings
« on: September 17, 2009, 05:57:56 PM »
I dont know how many times i came in without an engine but still managed to put her down on the ground, but skidded off onto the dirt. The way i c it is this. If you land on the base (make a box around the base perimeter) you should get a landed succesfuly. Im tired of all thes ditching stuff.

Use your rudder, and if you're landing with your gear down then use your V/B keys for the wheel breaks in addition to your rudder. No problem.

Keep your speed under 125, then smoothly extend your wing into the ground and make a nice cartwheel. The wing slows you down, and then you skid to a stop still in control.

Default is C/V, as far as I know.

Sometimes I have to do a ground loop with the lead Lancaster to get stopped on a vehicle hanger large pad if damaged. If one flap is damaged this will mean a faster landing speed for the vehicle base. Usually, I will have the brakes on before I touch down to get stopped there. Landing there in a hot zone is a challenge before you get vulched.

Runways are nicer, but occasionally a ground loop is necessary there also.

easy fix to both problems.

1. don't get your engine shot out, HO and hope for death.

2. Lancaster landing at Vbase, take more gas, dont be lazy and fly back to your base from your lanc-stuka run.
