Would love to see a biplane in AH.
« on: December 04, 2001, 03:44:00 PM »
I would love to see the Fairey Swordfish in AH. Given a choice I would rather have an entirely new type of aircraft to fly than to be offered yet another version of a plane that is already well represented.

Of course if you REALLY want to make me happy... How about a WWI arena in AH!

I'm an Airwarrior refugee right now. I think AH is twice the game WBIII is. But, WBIII comes with Dawn Of Aces. So the choice is tough.

Biplanes? Why not...later.
The Swordfish, the Gladiator, the Fiat and the Henschel.
To make them a bit more useful, maybe they could be launched from Vehicle bases, as spot planes.
Anyway, I don't think they would be completely useless, just not much used except in scenarios.
And regarding them being hopeless flying targets, I remember that being said about the Hurricane before  :D
Whith more early war planes being brought in, it is just a qestion of time when we get those. And in a group of planes from the same time, they would not be so hopeless at all.
Well, time to kill with my Hurricane, see ya all.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Iteresting... Some people would not fly some types of planes because the feel that the plane would be useless and easy to kill. Therefore, they believe that nobody should have the chance to fly them. Makes sense to me.

I do like the idea about spotters from the vehicle bases though. Perhaps (forgive the spelling) Storks, or J3 Cubs? They could be used to call in artillery that could some day be modeled into the game.... As long as no one objects.

As for me, I'm enjoying the biplanes in "Dawn of Aces" I hope that someday I have the chance to fly them in AH are a WW1 version of it.

AH, the Swordfish, the plane that was so slow it couldn't be accurately targeted [chuckle]

I wouldn't mind seeing it!

Biplanes...since my first ride in a Tiger Moth it's for me the flying expirience of my life.
But unfortanetaly, I asked HiTech a couple of nights ago if there is a chance to see a biplane in AH. The answer was no. There was no time and not the right place to ask HiTech why not but i presume he got good reasons - as Frenchy says a tough challenge for 3D modeling or they just don't fit in the concept of Aces High.
But still its my dream to see once a biplane in AH.

Only way you can have Biplanes is to have an arena with a "Rolling Plane Set" where A/C come out as they did as the War progressed. Older models being replaced by newer A/C. If they are thrown into the "Feeding Frenzy" of the Main with all the late model planes they aren't going to last very long.

Yes, the Swordfish flew to the end of the War but as we don't fight the same in AH as they did in RL I don't really think it would get that much use and would be completely forgotten in a week. JMO

A suggestion last year was to add a "Texan", "Wacko" or similiar plane for training new pilots in..it would serve as a good platform for both the TA (newbies) and a great perk point harvester in Main (granted you could actually catch someone in it!)
