"New" squad recruiting
« on: August 17, 2009, 11:04:26 AM »
I have decided to recuit new members into The Wingmen.

If you're interested in complex missions and wingman tactics rather than the NOE hoard tactics so often seen in the MA's you might be interested in this opportunity.

I was the CO of The Red Barons squadron in Air Warrior from 1996 to 2001.  We were a squad of over sixty players formed into a command wing, two fighter wings and a bomber wing.  We had weekly complex missions where we had players staging from multiple bases at varying times and attacking multiple targets in a coordinated fashion.  We wreaked havoc on our opponents while both we and our opponents had fun.

It is my intent to bring The Wingmen to the position of glory, dominence and respect once occupied by The Red Barons of Air Warrior.

- I am looking to put together, at least initially, a 30 man squad broken into three 10 man sections with the flexibility to break down further into five 6 man flights or fifteen 2 man wings.  The sections will include a fighter group, a fighter/attack group and a bomber/ground attack group.
- We will have a formalized squad night during which we will be organized as a military unit or series of units.
- For day to day flying we will be organized in 15 wing pairs based on the times players most often log on.  This will allow for wingman practice and familiarity during squad opps.
- There will be various officer positions available throughout the squad (eventually 15 officer positions of varying rank).

Here's my vision for the squad organization structure and officer positions:

- The squad is and will remain Bishop.
- I need players who like to play the entire game as well as specialists in various areas (bomber, fighter, attack, GV, etc.) but will eventually need each player to chose a particular specialty for squad opps.
- I also need someone with web skills to get a web-site up.
- I am not concerned with age as long as the player conducts themselves maturely.
- I am not concerned with skill level as eventually there will be a training program (I will eventually need someone skilled in all aspects of the game to take a position as Training Officer).
- I'm looking for players primarily availble from U.S. prime time to late evenings.
- We will not be dedicated to a particular aircraft and missions could include anything available in the game.

Currently there are only two of us in the squad and we rarely see one another so for all intents and purposes this is a start-up endevor but I've done it before.  I've put a lot of thought into this and think we could have some great fun and success without adding to the MA horde mentality.

If you're interested the best idea would be to PM me on the BBs and we'll arrange a time to meet in the arenas.  You can also try to PM me on-line although I get pretty distracted when I'm flying so I may not respond.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.
