Drivers for X1950 pro?
« on: August 15, 2009, 07:00:10 PM »
I have the Sapphire X1950 pro (AGP) card, with AMD X2. and 2G ram

Anyone know the best drivers to us for the latest AH release?

I just DL'd cat 9.3 from sapphire, but have not installed it yet, waiting your input.

BTW just did a clean install on this comp. the only thing it is going to be used for is AH. Nothing else installed.

Well you can't say which one will be the "best" out of all the computers in the world, some need certain amounts of RAM to work, some need other features and such and we need lots more info!!!!  :rofl
Give us a DXDIAG and you, young grasshopper, shall get your answer.

Hiya Sled, ( ROFL you a young grasshopper, I shall give you your answer!!! )

9.7 cats are out..... prob wouldn't hurt to go ahead and try them from the AMD/ATI  website.......

I am not quite sure where ATI dropped support, whether it was around 1900 series or 2400 series.....

if it is glitchy then the 9.3 cats drivers will be glitchy as well....

edit: check out this Guru3d.com forums thread ----> http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=210173

says  cat 7.12's  people report as giving best performance.but people are using the cat 8.6's.......

Good Luck / hope this helps   :salute

now as for you, Eagleclaw,

Well you can't say which one will be the "best" out of all the computers in the world, some need certain amounts of RAM to work, some need other features and such and we need lots more info!!!!  :rofl

here is the only clue rake you gonna need,
you my "YOUNG WHIPPERSNAPPER", need to realize that "Just because you have replied and posted doesn't mean you know Rat Crap about anything" ....
you might be better served if you sit back and learn what other people type and learn how the game mechanics work, instead of posting your repetitive "Rat Crap" about every single problem others are having........ your posts are beginning to become irritating

why don't we have a ignore or squelch feature on this new bbs system?  Skuzzy?

This is rediculous how people just diss me over the little things I type! If you don't like what I post get over it. I am trying to help. If you all don't want my help, I don't really give a care in the world. Got it? Most of the information I post is legit, if you don't like it, don't read it. The grasshopper thing was a little throw away joke, sorry for saying grasshopper, if it somehow offended you. My past experiences have required more RAM, better drivers and everything, Im just passing this on, if you look at my posts you will see that others will agree and even support what I say. Sorry about hijacking this thread.

The point is you don't pay attention, and post the same tripe over and over. Had you looked at the original post ID you would have seen that Sled has been here for a long time and I believe is as old as dirt like many of the rest of us. You on the other hand are both new to the game, as well as coming across as a youngin on the boards.

Posting "lets see your Dxdiag" in everyone of your post isn't helping, it's just raising your post count.

Im not new to the game, Im just new to the post, if you don't want me to post "give us a DXDIAG" fine, I won't, this is really stupid, just let it drop so we don't hijack the thread any more... Can we do that? Please?

Unfortunately Eagleclaw, in this instance a dxdiag is not necessary. All he's looking for is recommendations on which driver to use for a specific piece of hardware based on the manufacturer and hardware model. A dxdiag would be good if he had an actual issue to resolve aside from just finding a good driver to use in order to avoid any unnecessary issues.

OK guys, lets not turn this into a flame thread. ;)

Thanks for all of your input. Gyrene81 is correct, I was just looking for the best set of drivers to use for this new release of AH with my system.

I went ahead and installed the 9.3 cats from sapphire, they seemed to be fine last night. I was not able to use much eye candy on 1600x1200, but when I turned it down to 1440x1080, I was able to run some sweets, AA4x, new terrain, water, reflections, skins.

The 1440, does not look as nice as 1600, but I like having the eye candy.

Running with nothing on the computer sure helped. I only have 23 processes, no virus, or any real extras installed, besides my saitek profiler, and synergy so I can share mouse and keyboard.

Fugitive, Not as old as dirt, but maybe the moss that grows on it. ;)

TC, I will try the 9.3 cats for awhile, might switch to the omegas (7.12 based) later.  thanks

Eagle, I did pull up the Dxdiag, but decided the 6 pages of info was probably not needed for this. I do have it for future use. TY
