VROOM VROOOM! (Extrernal flyby sounds implemented)

If you haven't tried out the Aces High Beta DX8  V.12, I recommend you do it (It's a separate exe file, no need to fear busting your working copy).

New gunsight system is realy nice (piper stays centered even if you move your head)
Note: waiting for the 1st "thisisnotaccuratewhineOtheday ..."

But that realy KICKS is the 3D sounds that you get in the tower or in a chute. Read : Yes, You hear planes flyby, engines being turned on (uhhh that sounded weird) etc...

I was watching a scene, sitting in the tower of a vulched field... WOW.

It's still not available while "in plane", but some guy called Hitech mumbled something about "not impossible"  :)

Try it!

Just plain phenominal! It's a major leap from the sounds we have in AH for sure.
I was at A23 and just sat in the tower listening. At one point at least 10 planes were taking off. Some then buzzed by the tower (nice ones too SOB! <G> ), straffed.. I heard Gv's driving acorss the field. Bombs exploding (base was under attack at one point) planes crashing/expoding after getting shot down ...etc, etc.
The doppler effect was tops. And just the different sounds for various aircraft was really sweet. The Lancaster sounds more impressive and a beast worhty of a lot of respect when you hear thoseh four engines warming up and then strain to help it take off.

Seems the range is 750 and under for these external sounds. And maybe depending on how many sound maming contacts are in your vicinity.

And that's it from my 5 minutes online  :(  Got paperwork to do.

Heh, I was flying all day, then HiTech told me on open how cool it sounded when I dove in and strafed him in his chute, with the new sound stuff.  Wishing I could play with the new stuff, I kept flying until Mr Fish came on and was like "you running beta 12?".  Eh???  I hadn't checked the boards, so I missed the announcement!

Anyhow, downloaded it, hooked the 8" sub in my chair to it's amp for the first time in a month or so and logged back in.  Holy toejame, this new sound system in AH is great!  WTG HT!

I too sat in the tower last night listening to the sounds. Very immersive. I was thinking of starting a thread a week or so ago about how I missed hearing the 88's firing from the tower in warbirds. This is leaps and bounds ahead of that.

What's cool is hanging from your silk and seeing (and hearing) a despised enemy roaring in, ripping you up with some machine gun bullets, I jumped under my desk! (well almost)

I would only ask that HTC PLEASE enable these sounds for ground vehicles. Aircratf I can see not having them unless they were eng off and parked with the cockpit open. LVT's might be hard as it could have a water/wake sound (verusus wind) which would, should, be loud but you would not want that on land. However, imo, these external sounds would boost the ground vehicle experience and gameplay in a fantastic way.

Wow, it is pretty cool.

My question is this:  is the flyby sound and souch the same for every aircraft?  Or does each aircraft have its own unique startup/approaching/flyby/departing sound?

Its an impressive start, I sat in the tower and listened to folks start up and fly away, then hear guns firing as a con approached the field.  Not bad!

Bd5, i think the sounds are dependent upon what sounds are installed on your machine.  I noticed that the different planes sounded different, but then, I have the ultimate sound pack on my comp.

Sounds are really great in tower and in chute!!! Another big step for Aces High!
Would be perfect to have the sounds implemented also in planes and in gv.
And, for a romantic pilot, pls HT implement sound of WAVES when flyng my 205 low near the sea  :) (waiting for a Savoia Marchetti SM 79 "Sparviero" with a torpedo  :))

I don't CARE about the realism of in-plane fly by sounds. BRING EM! It is simply awesome in the tower and it'd be amazing to have that in my plane. Let the purists hit a button to disable them... whatever.... I want this in my plane!  :)
