From practical viewpoint, I'd have to say Junkers 88, because its very wide range of capabilities, performance and of course how we Finns used it historically, too. The ability to level bomb or dive bomb, depending on target, was very useful and the extremerely good accuracy was put into good use historically. I just cannot forget the descriptions of the Finnish vets, how 500/1000 kg bombs caused destruction in Russian armor concentrations - or how a 1000 KG bomb completely destroyed a Soviet transport full of soldiers, trying to make naval landing behind Finnish lines. Cruel, yet efficient.

But on the other hand, nothign just beats Heinkel 177 A-4/A-5, how devastating heavy bomber it was, how well armed, how well they fought against Soviets, how efficient they were in naval recon and interdiction in the Atlantic... Yet, how the plane achieved its potential too late.

Your point is not correct. The 88 is used a LOT more as a bomber than a mere 1%. Actually it's used in a pure bomber role most of the time, though of course the absolute numbers are much less than it's Allied counterparts.

Only a tiny fraction of the 107 Ju88's I killed in Late War during this year so far were torpedo bombers.

I rarely ever see JU-88s used as a level bomber, and whenever I just so happen to shoot one down that was level bombing, its usually a zipcode with a 10,000 score.

The JU-88 is a remarkable plane, here in the game as it was in real life.

I find it to be the best handling bomber in the game. It would be kinda fun to have the bomber killer version in the game. If we had night and radar...6 20mm cannon = mincemeat.

If I remember right, at high Alts, the night hunter version was pretty fast.

"Wings", the show, has an awsome JU-88 episode if you ever get the chance to watch it.

A few variants had a front 20mm right ?

the Ju 88 C6 (6a, 6b and 6c), had two 20 mm (0.79 in) cannon added to its forward armament, the rear MG 15 being replaced by an MG 131. The Ju 88 C6 and the last variant in this series, the C7 (7a, 7b and 7c), were used as both day (6a, 7c) and night (6b, 6c) fighters, while the 7a and 7b were employed in the intruder role.

or
ju 88 C-6 is a heavy fighter variant of the Ju 88 A-4. It has armament of 3 7.92mm machineguns, 3 20mm MG/FF cannons and 10 SC-50 bombs. Ju 88 C-6 served in all theaters of war where Luftwaffe fought, and it did fight in many roles too.

Above the Atlantic Ocean, in the Bay of Biscay it intercepted bombers ferried to North Africa and protected the submarines on their way in and out of their bases in western France. In the "Bloody Bay" many battles ensued with the opposing heavy fighters too, Beaufighter and the excellent Mosquito.
Over Germany Ju 88 C-6 was used as a radar equipped nightfighter fending off RAF bombers. This is the role of which the C-6 is motst remembered of.
In the East Front C-6 was also used in big numbers, both as a nightfighter and long range intruder and heavy day fighter. Many bomber squadrons in the east had on of their Staffel's equipped solely with C-6 for intruder missions against the Russian supply trains, colums and depots.
