ENY
« on: August 22, 2009, 12:21:44 AM »
Not to start another ENY thread, lord knows there's a lot of them already.

But... Does anyone have any idea how ENY is based? Some planes have ENYs that is, IMO, too high/low. Would just like to know how it is based.

Pick a plane, say, the Ki-84.  Then close your eyes, flip a coin in the air, and spin in circles.  If you feel kind of dizzy and confused, give it a low ENY.  If you feel really bewildered, then give it a high ENY.  Repeat these procedures and you'll end up with ENY values pretty close to what we have now.

Did you read any of the other threads?  There's not really an answer in any of them but there is plenty of speculation available.

I read them, but none of them are addressing the ENY on the planes. Or how its configured. People are just stating what they would like see change to adjust the ENY rules.

I actually want to know how the planes ENY was figured up.

You don't believe me, huh?  There's no formula.  There's no evaluative procedure.  There's no number crunching.  Just take your gut feeling about an airplane and give it a number from 5 to 40 depending on how good you think it is.  That's how ENY was 'configured.'

I think it has to do with HTC's opinion on the planes' max theoretical potential in the main arena.  But then you have planes like the 109K4 at eny 20 and the P47N at eny 5.  The only explanations I can come up for this is that they don't think the 109K4 can consistently rack up a lot of kills in the MA in a sortie, wrong.  :devil
As for the P47N, it can carry so much ord that they decided it was an Eny 5 attack plane.  Points being, there are more contingencies than just what a plane can do in a 1v1 matchup that they factored into their Eny numbers.  Hope this helps PK.

If Im not mistaken they took a paddleball and seen how many times they could hit the ball for each plane then rounded to the nearest multiple of 5....... sometimes they missed right away...... sometimes they kept it going for a bit

Even though 95% of the fights in the arenas are low alt furballs, the ENY appears to be based off everything the aircraft is capable of.  Good jabo aircraft have a higher ENY than they normally would, and aircraft good at high alts have a higher ENY than seems appropriate when the aircraft is employed at low alts.  Conversely, aircraft that are particularly poor at high alts are given an ENY advantage even though the penalty is rarely experienced in the MAs.

Anyways, that's what I can figure.  IMO this method of setting ENY is deeply flawed and the negative effects on the game are obvious and frequently pointed out.

Yes.  S.A.P.P tells HiTech what we want the ENY to be and HiTech sets it that way.  It's part of the benefits of being an omnipotent organization bent on world domination through our nefarious plans.
