Finished Drawing Scan
« on: August 26, 2009, 11:17:19 PM »
So this pic was posted in another thread but the scan I had was old and the drawing was incomplete when I scanned it.  The scanner I used was crappy and I don't really know how to use them or photo managing programs very well, so in general it was a pretty bad pic.  I borrowed the finished picture from my mother this week so that I could try to get a new better quality scan of the finished drawing.   Just for comparisons sake, here's the old scan as it appeared before.

And here is the new scan, still not great quality but leaps and bounds better than the old one.  I have a much larger jpg on my desktop that looks quite a bit better, but I thought it was probably too big to put here.

When I look at this now though, all I can see is stuff that I hate about it and want to change.  I'm not going to mess with it though I dont' think, too much danger of screwing up something that I do like.

Very famous image.  Probably in just about every History text that covers the Great Depression.

Good job reproducing it.  Wish I had that talent.

Thanks guys.  Yeah Dave, it is iconic for sure.  I dont' remember what book I had that had the pic in it when I drew it but it was a depression/dustbowl book.  I wanted to draw that particular one because of their hair and the wrinkling on the sleeve of her shirt.  I just got fascinated and then had to try to do it myself.  I really don't care for the way her face came out, but I am very happy with the cloth and hair.  I appreciate the kind words guys.

Yep, fantastic pic there too.  I just couldn't remember the photographer's name, thanks.  By the way, I checked out your sight you have linked in your sig, some really good pictures in there, great work man.

Alright madda, I haven't forgotten about you.  I'm shooting that e-mail to you today hopefully.  There's one great pic I have that you'll probably enjoy and maybe even take a crack at drawing hint hint.
