FM of AH...
« on: March 02, 2000, 08:03:00 AM »
hiya all,
after a month of flying AH i still think, that the FM of WB is the best one. tried to
get a SPIT V spinning in offline play.
the stall warning was screaming, but the spit
only lowered nose, gained speed...that was all. used full movement of the ailerons, but no chance to "trudel" (spinning=trudeln? dont know english description for it).
in real life, i'm "only" a glider pilot (more
difficult than motor-flying=bus driving) but
took 10h in a cessna 172 too. its easier to
bring an cessna172 or glider into "spinning"
than one of the birds in AH. and i belive, EVERY WB there is much more difficult to handle than a cessna. (really easy to fly!)
the FM and the flight "feeling" in AH seems to be close to the on of EAW. in WB, the FM
does every thing ok, like in real live.
when flying AH, it feels like the esay-mode in WB. is there a button to activate realistic flight in AH....
real life pilots! think about it pls!
but i'll still keep fighting in my loved G10

can't really say that Habicht . i'm flying gliders too and i'm also flying powered aircraft (Schleppi   and holding aerobatic license -> just proofing that i have about the same experience)

And here in AH you have inertia (especially noticeable in roll)!
Also i have had no problems to make the F4U spin perfectly stable with about 45° nose down pitch and doing about 1 turn / 1 1/2 seconds which seems to be pretty reasonable .. what might set of your spinning trials was that you probably had power on ? Then the aircraft might only spin in 1 direction even tho u hold controls for spin in  the other direction

My experience in Warbirds is limited (100 hours ?) but IMHO the planes feel much   more realistic than WB -> always hard to describe that and there is no real hard data that could proof it.

One plane and attribute is definitely better modeled in AH than in WB: Fw 190 roll rate, particularly initial roll.

In Warbirds it was decreased because of control delays and roll warp accusations which were partly true, I admit.

Every account I have read states that Fw was able to change direction "in blink of an eye" and in AH it really feels like it does!

And don't forget that external stores drag and weight modeling is part of FM and in that sector WB stinks.
