Patch 7 and video memory
« on: August 25, 2009, 07:21:25 PM »
I have gone in during patch 7 and now get stutters as some new object explodes, or some such.  Previously, those things didn't change anything on my computer, but now they make it stutter. Also, when I see a GV, it has to load. Then, when I die, my computer has to reload the GV. Plus, the Ctrl+I display shows absolutely no memory on the video card being used. I am not sure if this is a bug or not, but it really weirds me out.

Almost like 2 steps back to patch 4...no matter what I do, video memory used stays at 1.3MB...and I know for a fact that if my video card uses over 110MB of video memory, no problems whatsoever.

And this is my video card...upgraded my video drivers last night and noticed a little lag issue thought maybe this patch would fix it...nope...even reverting back to the older driver isn't helping.

Well, patch 8 works fine, so I guess the thread is over.

Not quite...patch 8 is a vast improvement but there is still a redraw issue going on that didn't exist in patch 6.

The memory usage info is vastly improved but the stuttering effect though less frequent than it was still exists...in the cockpit, outside the plane, and in a chute...any time the graphics are refreshed to update it's a stutter...pretty much like watching a badly timed windows movie maker clip...

I tried everything that has been suggested in the past and stuff I never tried before...doesn't change.

Now I'm kinda feeling like twinboom.  ;)
