Sometimes it can be an indicator to a problem.


Is that power supply putting out more than 26 amps on the +12v side? (8800GTS requires min 26 amps)

I found an updated driver for your sound card on creatives website:

You're gonna need WinXP SP3 and the subsequent critical updates. It doesn't come with the additional programs that were on the original disk. Make sure you uninstall the driver using device manager...then clear your registry of all entries before installing the new driver.


Step down one revision on your video card drivers...to version 186.18


I assume you have video slot settings in the bios set to the maximum settings if they are adjustable that is. (Some aren't)

patch 7 still stuttering

patch 7 for me, is stuttering too, before patch 7 I never had a problem..but now I do, it runs solid 65 - 74fps full graphics, patch 7 arrives and I have stuttering.

Yeah I have a feeling many people are suddenly in the same boat...including myself...this one is almost like patch 4. For me it's unusual.

even from the initial release of the update, I never suffered from the stuttering, except now in patch 7. I have just downloaded the 190 Nvidia drivers, so I hope that might cure it.

looks like the latest Nvidia 190 drivers solved the problem, I did test it before the latest patch by the way

TB, sorry I haven't responded since. Just kind of waiting till the patching slows back down again and trying to think of what else to look at / try. I was pretty sure the removal of memory thing would have changed SOMETHING. ;-)
