Mitsu requested I skin this Ki-43. It is the aircraft of Capt. Shigeo Nangou, who in late 43/early 44 was Executive Officer of the 59th Sentai. Captain Nangou shot down 15 enemy aircraft with the 59th Sentai, all over New Guinea. On 23rd January 1944 he was shot down and killed, probably by 1st Lt Robert M DeHaven of the 7th FS, while intercepting a bombing raid over Wewak.
Nangou's aircraft carries a white leader's fuselage stripe plus two blue stripes to denote his exec officer's status. The red tail markings are from the 2nd Chutai who Nangou commanded before his change of duties and who continued to maintain his aircraft.
Looking at the photo again it seems the green camouflage extends further back under the wing than I have got it and also covers the whole of the landing gear door aft of the yellow stripe, so I'll amend that.
