Cure for locked up Saitek Peds?
« on: August 28, 2009, 07:53:51 AM »
The right side pedal is locked in the forward position. I've experienced this same issue maybe a dozen times now and have been able to unlock the stuck ped by "ham-fisting" them back with my feet. This time...no go...they just lock up again. Any tips? (besides throwing them away and buying CH peds  :D )

ps. I removed the 20 odd screws on the base to get a look see inside. The bottom wouldn't seperate.

Max,
I had the same problem If you haven't already, remove the round rubber pads to expose more screws. The 2 halves should separate easily, just be careful the wire/cables don't get caught on other parts.

Max,
I believe the side that was pushed all the way forward had jumped a stop, but when you open it up you see the problem. Gently lift the part that was pushed past the stop and return it to its original position. Also be careful of the internal cables as they can get caught and stop the movement of the pedals.
The cables are multi-strand and do not have any covering on the outside, so when the tension is removed from them they spread apart.
You shouldn't have any problems, it's an easy fix.

There is a fix for it. Go to their websight and they will send you little plastic thingies, "tho I dont know how they are used". This happens to me about every few weeks. I unscrew the little screws and then finagle the rollers back on track. Then screw the screws back in. Pretty crummy for $150 rudders but there you have it. It helps to use less screws so's you dont have to unscrew as many when it happens.

Since my torque wheel broke it hasnt happened so lightening up your torque wheel might help. You can go to their websight and they will send you the fix and explain how to use it. I just live with it myself.

i posted another do it yourself fix, a while back.
but i will tell you again, once you get it apart, and figure out how to fix the problem,(i had mine apart many times), use wood screws and bolt it to a piece of wood the same size as the base of the pedals. i used half inch thick fiberboard for mine.
the outside empty holes will work perfectly for this. i assume you must be on carpet when this happens.the bottom of the pedals flexes without a hard surface underneath, so the wood strengthens it greatly!
