Boxtop Art
« on: August 31, 2009, 12:30:28 AM »
When I was a youngster, building airplane models, (still have the urge sometimes), one of the things that fired my imagination, and started me on the whole WWII as a hobby thing, was Boxtop Art!!!  The colors were always so vivid.. More fun than black and white photos!!! The pics remind me so much of the game we play today!!!    :salute HT for bringing the Boxtops to Life!!!

Here are a few that I have found, IMO look really good!!!
 :salute to the artists!!!

This first pic is one of the coolest I have ever seen!!! But mine is a poor copy!!!
If anyone can find a cleared copy, please post it.. Would like to get a 60inch print made...

How many of us have built this one, I think I have twice. The boxes got me too they looked so cool on the box that I just had to save my bux and get the kit and appropriate paints.

No thank you Turkish, I'm sweet enough.

Character is like a tree and reputation like its shadow. The shadow is what we think of it; the tree is the real thing.

When the game is over, the Kings and Pawns all go into the same box.

I have an image in my mind of a german one, I remember looking at in store as a kid (circa 1976-7). It was something like an ME110 or 410 maybe(?) with christmas tree antennas in front (nightfighter?).

Would really like to see that one again some day.

The corsair one above looks familiar.

I must have built a hundred-something models in my day....alas, none have survived.
