Here's a blurb from Baugher's website:

Quote
Fw 190F-8/U1 - long range fighter-bomber (provided as replacement for the Fw 190G-8 withdrawn from production). The plane had underwing pylons installed from the Bf 110 V.Mitt-Schloss (Verkleidetes Messerschmitt Schloss) for mounting two 300 liter fuel tanks and additional fuel pumps inside the wings. Some planes had ETC 503 bomb racks in place of the pylons that gave the capability of carrying two additional 250 kg bombs (in this case the fuel tank was mounted under the fuselage) on ETC 501 racks. It was possible was to mount bombs on all points (2x250 kg and 1x500 kg), this reduced range but made the Fw 190A dangerous plane carrying 1000 kg of bombs.

Baugher's statement is supported by:
Heinz Nowarra, Focke Wulf Fw 190 Aircraft & Legend
Wolfgang Wagner, Kurt Tank:  Focke Wulf's Designer and Test Pilot
Adam Skupiewski, Aircraft Monograph 4:  Fw 190A/F/G/S, Part I

The only book I can find which indicates that the Fw 190F-8/U1 was a two-place trainer conversion is William Green, Warplanes of the Third Reich.  Green says this was was a planned variant and was cancelled.

I'm inclined to believe the other authors over Green because it makes sense that a long-range F-8 version would have been needed to replace the long-range G-8 once production of that type was stopped in Feb. 1944.  Maybe they were going to use U1 designation for the trainer and then once they cancelled that project they allocated the designation for the long-range variant.

This plane and the Dora 9 and the allies will be in serious trouble.

The added jabo capability will mean 9./JG54 will be so much more effective on jabos (we fail if more osties up than we have eggs  )

With the D9, we'll be able to fight the 51 on its own terms.

Oh yah, future looks sweet  .

Allies will have to go another step up to preserve superiority - i.e adding the D9 doesn't give the LW superiority - it simply moves the LW from step[n-1] to the same step as the allies, i.e step[n]

Fear us.

Santa, the G10 is teh equal of the p51

personally, i dont think dora is a primary concern, because the LW have a excellent air superiority fightin in the g10

what is a problem is the 190F for sure, and the IL-2. These two planes i have been harping about for months nbut TC never listens to me, while all their good customers and my friends in the game leave because they wont listen. Oh well.

Funked there were probably also an F-8 U1 trainer as you stated but it was canceled and instead used to designate the long-ranged variant, I agree with that.

Yeah all the customers are leaving.
If only they would listen to Zig.
And he's the only one calling for the Il-2, all by himself.
LOL!

Sorry buddy you set yourself up!
