I'm stt ssst stt Stuttering.
« on: August 28, 2009, 06:14:43 AM »
I guess I've been one of the lucky ones, I've had no problems with the update until the very last patch #8. Last night was my first chance to fly it and I experianced stutter twice. Both times it occured when I was transitioning through a cloud layer. Both going up and going down. This was the only time though. Love the update, thanks for all the work you folks have been doing to help everyone.   :aok

possibly a driver issue, possibly not enough RAM. Im thinking the latter... How much RAM is on your comp?

It's not his system RAM and it's not his video RAM...it's a texture rendering issue.

Shifty, just for kicks could you post a dxdiag.

As he moves through the cloud layer the game would use up a bit more RAM, this was just a possibility, don't jump the gun.

Thought of that myself Eagleclaw, but I've gotten the same effect and I know I have enough RAM. Happened with patch 4 and 5 then again in 7. It should go to video memory and be relfected in the ctrl+i readout, shouldn't it?

True, possibly a problem with your computer not being able to process info quick enough, other than that I don't know. Maybe update drivers and vid card. Hope this helps <S>

Sorry guys I went to the beach for a week. Like I said I've had no problems at all until version 8 came out. Tonight was my first time on since last week. On the FSO when we got near clouds my frame rate went to **** I didn't check exactly what it was i was a little busy with Hurri IIs and I-16s. I have 2MB of RAM. Gyrene WTF is a dxdiag I'll be glad to post it if you tell me what it is. ;)

Shifty, read this post carefully then answer the questions:

A dxdiag is a directx system diagnostics report. What is does is display information on the hardware in your computer (cpu, memory, graphics card, audio card, etc...).

1. Go to "Start" from the Windows desktop
2. Select "Run" from the pop up menu
3. In the Run dialog box, type DXDIAG and press <ENTER>
4. After a few seconds the DXDIAG utility will be ready (the progress indicator in the lower left corner will disappear).
5. Press the "Save All Information" button
6. This will save the DXDIAG data to a file of your choice (dxdiag.txt save to your desktop folder)
7. Once you have done this, open the dxdiag.txt file and copy the sections for System Information, Display Devices and Sound Devices...then paste them in your post.
