couple of wishes on my mind for a while now
« on: August 27, 2009, 05:56:46 PM »
Theres a couple of game improvements ive been mulling over for a while now.

I'd like to see bailing removed from undamaged aircraft. There are far too many people out there bailing without making any effort to rtb. I suppose if it was implemented, the two obvious ways to circumvent it would be to shoot a friendly of go into a compression dive, so I propose that using killshooter doesnt let you bail and deliberate crashing results in a "stupidity points" penalty. I'd just like to see something coded into undamaged rides to perk up the gameplay.

The second wish would be to increase the gap between getting shot down and landing safely. Maybe a small points bonus for landing successfully after at least say,15 minutes flight time (for making the effort) and being a bit harder by way of a point deduction for getting killed.

These are admittedly selfish wishes, purely because i'm an rtb guy. I always up with the intention of surviving the sortie and making it home. There are increasing numbers of people who simply dont care if they dont come back and I feel this should be addressed.

just my thoughts and please go easy on me if you dont agree

I think "effort points" are a good idea maybe .25perks for 15 minutes of flight. :salute

Being an "RTb guy" myself I ask: Why?

And another thing... how would the program tell apart a deliberate crash from a non-deliberate one?

Actually, there is a penalty for bailing.  You dont get the full amount of points (for score purposes) for your kills or the damage that you did if you bail, get killed, ditch, or get captured as you do it you land safely.  The following info is taken form the Help Section under Scoring:

Death Multipliers

Landed     1.0
Discoed       0.25
Bailed         0.5
Ditched       0.75
Captured     0.4
Killed          0.25
Crashed      0.25

So you only get 1/2 credit applied to your score if you bail... 1/4 if you get killed or captured.  As for perks, you get a 1.25 multiplier to the perks you earn on that sortie if you land successfully as opposed to getting shot down or bailing.  So by default, if you bail, you dont get the bonus.

+1   :aok

If you need to terminate flight due to wife-ack or child-ack then ALT-F4 is a viable solution.

I've always thought it would be a good motivator to give bonuses for landing damaged aircraft succesfully. After fighting a busted rudder, missing half wing, an engine or 2 missing..   it would seem fitting to be granted extra for making it back to base.  Unfortunately, I could also see where this rewards stupidity for allowing your aircraft to become damaged..   Oh  the turmoil.

What I'd really like to see is:  SYSTEM:  Drone landed his wreck of an airplane successfully and was promptly beat into a coma by his crew-chief.

Nothing wrong with being an RTB guy.

These idea's certainly have merit to them.

With a little work it might be a perfect addition.

Kind of thought the disco perk multipler would have been more.

I'd like to see altitude perked.

The perks taking effect at 12k.

Take a D-3 to 12,001 ft. it costs ya a couple perks.

Wanna go higher?  Its gonna cost ya Mr. Jones!

The higher ya go, the more it costs.

Give new guys a couple hundered perks free to start.

No perks left?  No altitude for you! Plane will not climb over 12k.

Of course if ya land, it costs ya nothing.

This would include Buffs.

Might keep fights at a resonable level, and keep guys from hiding from fights using altitude.

They tried funneling fights in the horizontal, maybe its time to funnel them vertically. :O

Since I don't play for rank or score, it doesn't matter to me one way or the other.  The only time I bail from an undamaged plane is if I'm looking for a fight that doesn't happen and I want to go elsewhere, or a countryman asks for help on the other side of the map.

Why do you care?  If you got your wish you'd probably get pwned more often by skilled pilots who are being forced to fly smarter.
