The mighty 80th, known for their 38 parts distribution scheme with a side business in black market blenders, was on the tarmac... engines running. Final discussions on how to take off without hitting anything were in full swing. As 38s sat there a large flight of friendlies took off in the other direction. They must have numbered around 40 machines of all makes and models. The sky around us was full of friendly icons and we felt comfortable as our discussion continued. These discussion can be long winded given the importance of not crashing before we even lift off.

It was Lazer who came up with the novel idea of following the concrete trail we were sitting on. He wisely noted that it seemed straight and that there were no obvious obstacles to hinder our rollout. OK... the plan was set. We would roll on my command.

Gentlemen let's BOOM BOOM BOOM ............ ahhhhhhhhhhh

OK who was supposed to be watching for enemy aircraft. Mir said, "hey the sky was full of green".

Seems there was a lone spit came through the sea of green and got 3 of us sitting on the tarmac. I have not laughed so hard in a long time.

now that's almost as funny as guppys pic of his 38g killin that tank............only thing better would be if one of ya had film running.  :aok :rofl :noid

I always knew the 80th were a bunch of good sports <S>!  What is really sad about this situation is you have all those countrymen flying around and not one of them bothered to warn those at the airfield of an incoming  bandit.  Now that is what I call a mission running with head up buttocks syndrome.  I'll bet that lone spitty was shocked as heck that he made it through. lol :rock

As for not getting any warning... I have no problem with that as we were not watching either. We were all guilty of not keeping the ol' head on a swivel.  :aok

Don't worry, it's only as strange as it is for me to be proud that I was on for it.  :P

If I saved the film, I'll post screenshots.

I didn't throttle up at all, so I got to watch the Spit dive in and take out everybody.  lol

Talk about a great laugh!

Back about 6mos or so in FSO, our squad was rearming our A20s when a lone ME262 flew down the runway. Needless to say, most of us were done for the night, and FILTH was the #1 scoring pilot that frame. :D

He posted on the BBS some screen shots. We all laughed along w/Filth knowing that anyone of us would have done the same thing.

Kind like in "long December" event when Von Messa (i think it was him) vultch a bunch of B-26 while they where rearming.  he made 2 or three passes and ending up with 19 kills.   :lol
