190 trim

Hi all,  was reading the British report on the testing of the captured FW190A3.  One of the things that stuck out, was the comment that after noticing how fast the plane rolled, the test pilots commented on how little trim changing was needed in the different flight modes.

Now the pilots who made this observation were flying captured LW equipment and British production equipment.

The comments in the report lead me to think that trim requirments for the FW would be less than the spit or hurri, as those would be the fighters most flown by the test pilots.

This does not seem to be reflected in AH at the moment.

Any comments?

And it was not reflected in WB either.

I believe the reason is that flight models are not accurate enought to give this kind of "personality" for planes?

I have idea which could be implemented to simulate such thing. Make trim key work "faster" in planes that did not need that much trim. In Fw 190 you could trim the plane just by giving a small touch on trim key whereas Bf 109 might require longer key press to obtain same amount of trim.

Anybody has any theories why Fw 190 did not need to be trimmed as much as some ohter planes?

Well the Fw 190 had only fixed trim tabs for the ailerons and rudder.

And every flying impression I've read mentions that there was no problem with the plane going out of trim.

I have no idea how the designers accomplished this.

I recently started doing some flying in the 190 being just an 109 'dweeb' before.

Well, I don't't how it should be or how it compare to the spit in AH, but it certainly is a joy to dive in compared to the 109 that needs constant trimming and at high speeds actually is controlled by the trims.

Yep, the 190 is does not need as much trim as the 109 but does seem to need more than the spit.

I like "flying" all the fighters. Don't have much time in the lagg or nicki. Cannot wait for the typhoon and any other's that may be in the pipe line.
