Where does the name "Claim Jumpers" come from?
If you've ever seen the movie "Far and Away", when they camp out way ahead of the land race and raise their flag. They were "claim jumpers". It basically means shady attaining of land and I believe the term was coined for this act that was in Far and Away.
Of course I could be wrong, this has been my understanding.
