Enjoy your year or two with her.

Looks like an O. vulgaris.  Longest lifespan in captivity from settlement I've seen was just about 25 months.  In general, 12-15 months (especially for females).

Really awesome for the time they're around...But, don't expect your tank's rock work to stay how it is now.  She's getting around the size they start demolishing and building.  Also, I hope your tank is about as hermetically sealed as it can be.  They are only limited by the size of their beak in the space they can pass through.....and they will find that space.

Good to see that your pet octomo...octopus is thriving.  Those damn eyes though.  Ugh creepy.

I love the eyes!

That's cool, Cappy.  About them being smart, I saw a little segment on Animal Planet once where they were showing this octopus change it's shape and color to minimic all kinds of sea animals and underwater structure.  It was impressive.

I want you to teach yours how to fly around its tank while mimicing a Hellcat.

Thats the Mimic octopus

Legs would be more of 163, she is jet powered, and always crashes

Actually Legs is a O.Briareus, which have a life span of 12-18 months. And the longest octopus in captivity is just over five years, but that was a special case. She doesn't move rocks that much, nor do most octopus, they like shells and small rocks mostly. The only time she has moved a large rock was when I was playing with her and she was pulling on it. I have a small plastic toy hellcat, when she was small she loved to move it around, but when she could not get it in her den she let it be. The lid is surely sealed she knows the second it comes off. I have had a few close calls while cleaning the tank. she made it half way down the outside of the tank before I grabbed her.
