Now we need the Sturmovik and the HS-129
« on: April 10, 2000, 05:11:00 AM »
We need slow, heavily armed and armoured anti-tank kites. Our A-8 is not the Sturm variant, nor the F type. Other kites are too much vulnerable to 0.50 fire. I flew the HS-129 during CK beta-testing. She was ugly butt but deadly, like the Russian kite.

Cant imagine Sturmoviks (sp?) and/or HS-129's buzzing tank/M16 columns covered by light fighters, hammered by alt-monkeys, bounced by La-5FN, Macchi's and Typhoons when they loose alt and E ....

Good work NATEDOG and SUPERFLY!

"We took off from Schweidnitz to attack a Russian tank column which was advancing between Streigau and Jauer. Flying with me in an Hs 129 B-3 as Number 2 in my Schwarm was a young pilot with fewer than ten operational missions to his credit. On our third approach against a T-34, his shot hit the side of the tank, just below its turret. The 75 mm round blew a hole about one metre (3 ft) in diameter in the left hand side of the hull and the tank immediately caught fire. During the following operation that day, while we were operating against tanks in the city of Streigau, a tank exploded after the first shot. The impact of the 75 mm cannon was extraordinary."

"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown

It seems that currently any plane (except the C 47) can sneeze at a tank and it goes down - let the HTC crew sort out the balance first then let them add some tank busters

I agree, especially Panzer's should be much more difficult to destroy! There is no gun in our planes that can penetrate armour of PzKw unless fired directly above the tank to top armour!

Rockets might disable tracks in close misses and direct hits should give a kill. Heavy bombs should destroy tanks with near misses. But HMG fire is almost useless against tanks.

I, as a Jabo pilot, think panzers should be harder to kill and I bet tankers agree with me. No more spray kills against tanks but carefully conducted rocket and bomb attacks. There is no reason to drive tank for an hour to target when any plane with 2 X 13 mm MG's can kill you.

Last night I was hunting Panzies (along with everybody else of course)with my F4U-1D carrying 2 1,000lbs bombs and 8 rockets.
Dropped all of my ordinance on two big Panzies and came away with an assist when 5 other angry crop dusters came along to help dispose of these dirt eaters (HT was one of them, so I know someone there could shoot straight). It took an extended hail of rockets and bombs to kill theses brutes.
Gentleman, are these things that hard to kill or am I just a really bad shot??

Wil got 4 panzerz in one mission in a f4u1c. I was one of the panzers and he got me with one sustained burst. No body else hit me.

Initially I felt they were very easy to kill. In my first 1.02 sortie I bagged 3 tanks with cannon only!

Then after the patch I've yet to take a panzer down with cannons. I think they've been hardened somewhat.

M16's are still no problem for a cannon-armed bird.

Sounds good. I don't want panzers to be tin cans that can be killed with anything. That will make driving tanks useless which it was not in real life
