Is there a chart anywhere that has the max and optimum (best killing) ranges of Aces High weapons, including aircraft, ships, and ground vehicles?

At present I have no idea what range to open fire at with the 37mm antiaircraft as well as most other artillery, including 8-inch, torpedos, you name it.

I've seen figures here and there for actual equipment, but sure need some weapon ranges here in AH. Thanks.

in planes it depends on convergence and i do not no what 8 in are so i guess you mean 88s with those JUST SHOOT the rest shall be done by the AA shell.

Thanks, the Delphi site was interesting, but I'm hoping we can find some kind of official AH source. Makes no sense to me to have all the players making their own range guesses when surely the info must be available somewhere in the game design.

One thing to note: AH ranges are based on the point the aircraft fired from, NOT its current position. If you're flying at 300mph you'll move 440 feet per second. Static (sitting still) ranges are as follows:

.30 cals: 600 yards
.50 cals to 30mm: 1,500 yards
37mm & 40mm: 3,200 yards
Ship guns: 32,100 yards or more, roughly one and a half grid sectors (32 nauticle miles plus).

I don't know how realistic AH is in modelling this, but the max range depended on the relative speeds of the attacking aircraft and the target. Longest range was in a head-on attack, with the aircraft flying towards each other. Shortest range was in a tail-chase between aircraft with closely matched speeds (the higher the aircraft speeds, the more this applies). Beam attacks were in between.

Also, a defensive bomber gun firing backwards has a longer range than the same gun in the fighter chasing after it, because the bullets are meeting much less wind resistance.
