These "shells" are actually called "White Books".  There are many manufactures that offer the Whitebook base.  ASUS makes an excellent dedicated to gaming laptop but this is an expensive rig.  If you look at the one posted by skribetm this looks like one to me.  You can see its advantage with the 3dMark score.  His score rivals most desktop systems.  He does have it overclocked pretty well.  My only concern would be cooling at those clock speed.  But very impressive Skibetm  :salute

thank you never knew they where called white books

i apologize sir but i DO NOT own one, lolz! it's too expensive and unless one prioritizes some mobility out of their systems i wouldn't advise getting one. the more recent models that come with a nehalem chip has underpowered ati radeon mobility discrete graphics cards(4650, 4350..etc.) and wont be as good as this C2Quad based system from ASUS(when benching it, this has the 4870X2!) however, this laptop i posted prolly wont have power on batteries for even 30 minutes when gaming. i would imagine the power drain of the mobile 4870X2 to still be around 200W since its still the same 55nm process gpu.

true, desktops will still be better for gamers.  :aok <S!>
