Television shows that are just stupid
« on: September 28, 2009, 09:45:45 AM »
Honestly with all the discussion lately of how cable networks are screwing things up what else is there on to watch. I see guys post here how the Military Channel is so much better than the History Channel and I can agree with that to a certain extent...particularly when the History Channel isn't even about alleged history any more BUt to see the upcoming "Pilot Down: The True Story of Captain Scott Speicher" listed at 1pm Central Time for Saturday I just honestly am glad that college football is on then so I don't have to watch that crud. I have no idea where they get this stuff from; the guy was missing for nearly 20 years and now they have a "true story" on about him and the questions about his survival.

If I hear one more person come to the Fort or to an encampment and follow a stupid statement (usually delivered in the "I know better than the guy who does this every day he's not at work and better than the Rangers and Historians who do it for a living" voice) with "I saw it on the Military/History/Discovery Channel", I'm going to start loading live ammo at historic weapons demonstrations. Same with people who try to sound knowledgable at airshows and museums based on those three channels. Most of them are so friggen inaccurate or blatantly biased towards a certain side/personality/weapon system that there should be an 'S' Chip for blocking Stupid People and Stupid Shows.

Of course, that would leave us with 24 hours of commercials every day, but even that may be an improvement...

Wouldn't be so bad if the people watching knew they were watching crap, but most have no more knowledge of history than what they got in High School (and I dunno about you, but my 'History' class in school should have been entitled 'Why Americans should be ashamed for the past 230 years') and take everything they see on these shows as gospel truth.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Hate to say it but, these days stupid television sells...from sitcoms to game shows to reality. The Japanese have been living on stupid television for 30 years that I know of...and you can blame MTV for most of the "reality" junk you see now.

Until the popularization of reality television and military history, the Discovery and Nat Geo channels broadcast pure science...now it's all about drawing an audience at any cost.

Television hasn't had any good shows on for years, everything now is reality based shows and MTV what used to be Music Video's 24/7 has turned into the biggest trash channels on the TV, Followed closely by VH1, I just don't understand why people get so wrapped up in other peoples scripted lives ( Psst people its not Real Reality)..I hear people go on and on about "did you see what so and so did?" i mean to the point where you'd think they knew the people, to funny  :rofl

History channel still has alot to offer along with the science channel , speed channel, few good programs on the major networks , but the pickings are slim, Discovery channel has been a favorite of mine but lately i see there going down the "Reality Show" path , guess ill have to wait and see what those are..

But then again look at all the crap that's on the Internet to, its like TV has morphed into the internet, You tube is a good example, lots of funny videos but then again theres alot of Disturbing ones to, which others see and try to emulate what they see, I dunno.. its a whole new world out there i guess lol

This is why Comcast is wetting themselves over the upcoming release of the iPhone/Touch Hulu app. Personally, I don't know why nobody has come out with a box that lets you hook into all the online video sites (Former Google Video, YouTube, Hulu, ect).
