AT&T U-verse, is it worth it?
« on: October 13, 2009, 02:59:18 PM »
Well, I had been told it would be avaliable in October, and, suprisingly, it did  :O

It seems to be a pretty nice package, internet, phone, and TV all in one, but I was wondering, just how GOOD is this stuff?  Is it comparable to seperate services? We have DirecTV for tv right now, AT&T for phone, and BellSouth/AT&T SlowAccess DSL @ .5-.6 Mb/Sec for internet.  So I would think that with the TV coming through a line instead of a satellite would mean that it wont go out anymore, and I'm sure that ANY change in internet will make it better than what I have now.  So is it worth combining all the services into one? Would I see any possible SAVINGS?

When I compared prices in regards to switching to U-Verse, I didn't come up with a savings in money, but I would've received more for the same amount of money.

I have  AT&T Home Phone, ATT&T Cell Phone, DirecTV with 2 premium channels, and AT&T FastAccess 6.0 DSL.

I compared it to U-Verse, and I would've been able to get their top speed internet with all of the movie channels for a few dollars more per month.

This was taking into account the $15 savings I was receiving by using the AT&T/DirecTV bundle.

I'm going to U-Verse once my DirecTV contract expires.

wait until ATT loses its iphone exclusivity early next year and they'll be releasing a hell of a lot of better deals. that iphone is what's keeping ATT afloat, the rest of their services suck monkey balls.

verizon beats them with a stick and then some on cellphone service.
directv beats them with a stick and then some on tv
vonage beats them with a stick and then some on home phone service.
the only thing left is internet connection and thats up to whats available where you live. In my hometown I use timewarner cable and its not only much faster, much more reliable and cheaper than any ATT internet service.

Everything depends on where you live, as none of that is true here. :)

I have Uverse here in Birmingham, AL area. I love the service with the ability to program my DVR from any of the three receivers in the house and the ability to watch those recorded shows on any of those same TV's.

I switched the internet from Charter cable here to AT&T Uverse and haven't had a single problem. The speed is similar to the 10Mbps download service that I had in Charter. The upload is about the same and I have noticed better response in AH instead of how it was when I had Charter and played the last time online.

As for the billing you need to make sure that they stick with the price that is quoted. We had some early issues since we already used them as the land line before switching to Uverse and had to get those issues sorted out.

BS.   I was with DirecTV for 9.5 years.   Picture quality is IDENTICAL to U-Verse.   Time Warner drops more than any other Cable Company that I know of.

I like U-Verse.
