FSX Around the World Flight
« on: October 05, 2009, 07:39:49 PM »
Folks,
A couple of squaddies and I are making a flight around the world using FSX.
Currently we are following the flight route of the 1924 USAAS World Cruiser Flight.

Our group is flying the same route but with a twist of sorts. We are flying the Grumman Goose for our trip. While this aircraft is not accurate to portray the original flight, it does make the flight interesting.
The flight plans are researched and sent out each week prior to the flight.
Each leg of the flight lasts approximately 2 1/2 hours and is flown on Saturday Evenings at 9:00PM EST on the gamespy network. We use a combination of Teamspeak and the internal vox native to FSX.

Our next flight will be using VOR to VOR navigation. Its not historically correct, but it makes for some good times.

If anyone is interested in joining us in this flight, please send me a PM here on the forums.

 All are welcome!

I would love to do something like that.  Have set off on many around the world journeys in FS before but have yet to complete one yet.  My son and I are currently doing a round the US tour and we've been stuck in FL for several months now.

Hi all,

So far, we made it to Japan and looking to be in China within the next month.  The flightplans can be either be historically accurate, NOE or whatever you choose.  Requests are taken or you can make up your own.  These flights were the first to completely go around the world.  Come along with us and experience the difficulties and triumphs the original pilots encountered.  Its a great time and any regular flyers are ready and willing to help out newcomers.  If you can't make it on a regular basis thats ok too. Join us when you can.

cya in the air,
Marksmn

Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.
