I had the same problem when using an on board sound card.

I went into the bios and disabled the on board sound, and then added  a creative labs sound blaster card.

Then installed the driver from the CD instal disk.

It I was then able to record game video and sound using Fraps.

That worked for me hope it helps.  :aok

change the recording source in fraps.
If unsure of which source to use, list them all on this forum for additional help.

I think I know what youre talking about. Youre talking about what fraps is sound recording, Its recording my headset. What I want to know is how to change it so It listens to my soundcard like epic said. EG my sound card, I dont have an OB SC I dont think so anyway.

It talks about Realtek Audio HD on the sound recorder and I think that is my headset, so maybe I should just unplug my headset?

In the "Movies" tab of fraps:
Select either:
"Detect best sound input"
or
"Use Windows input"

Hopefully your "Sound Input" selection at the bottom will change.

You need to unmute stereo mix in the sound properties.

In XP:

1. To do this, right click on the volume icon and select open volume control.
2. Click on Options on the menu bar.
3. Select Properties
4. Select Recording or change the mixer device to your input device
5. Make sure microphone and stereo mix are in the "Show the following volume controls:" section
6. Click OK
7. In the Recording Control window, it depends on your sound card. Some have you select which inputs you want to allow in. Others make you mute the ones you don't. Regardless, you need to make sure stereo mix is selected or unmuted.

Stereo mix basically connects the output to the input in the sound card. It will allow you to record "what you hear." I hope this helps.

Note - While I am recording my stereo mix on, I cannot use vox in game. Test it out before you try it by tuning channel 5 to your name.
