So WE are getting Mosquito Mk. VI ?
« on: September 06, 2001, 05:48:00 PM »
HTC or anyone involved please relieve my curiosity! Which version of Mk. VI will we have?

Will we have the Series 1 with 1460 h.p. Merlin 21s or 23s with maximum of 2x 250-lb. internal bombload?

Or will we have Series 2 with 1635 h.p. Merlin 25s capable of carriing 2x 500-lb. internal bombload and 2x 500-lb. or 2x 50 Imp. gal. fuel tanks externaly?

In any case am I right that both above stated variants gun armament consisted of four (4) 20-mm Hispanos (150 r.p.g.)  :) and four (4) .303-in. Brownings (500 r.p.g.)  :D all in nose, plus 2000 lb. of bombs or 1000 lb. of bombs and eight (8) 60-lb. rockets ?

The paint job is of a Mosquito FB.MkVI Series 2.

Unfortunately it has the ducted saxophone exhausts with remove about 14mph from its top speed.  They were used to eliminate the exhaust flares, which AH doesn't model anyways.  Whether or not HTC models the performance with the ducted saxophone exhausts remains to be seen.

According to the RAF Museum the Mosquito had an overload of 175 rounds for each 20mm cannon and 780 rounds for each .303 machine gun. I sent that info to HTC, but I've no idea if it will be included in AH.
