Not a valid previous version...
« on: October 08, 2009, 05:38:57 PM »
Ok, yet another upgrade giving me the error "Not a valid previous version."

I'm downloading the full as we speak, but this is like 4-5 in a row that aren't recognizing it.

Manual upgrade or using the auto-updater?  Do you have more than one installation of the game (i.e. different versions) installed?

This last time I only tried the manual upgrade from the website. However in the past it's happened both manual and auto-updating through the game. I only have one version installed (I removed Beta after that version went live).

The patches between versions are hit and miss. Some of them install, some of them gave me the error. My install directory is NOT the new default path that was used beginning in the version with the new terrain. It's on a different drive (D:\ partition) and under the older Aces High II folder. However as I said, some of the intermediate patches worked and some didn't.

Have you ever removed the "sounds.res" file or any other file in the game directory?  That would cause the error.  Also, any number of AV programs could also cause it.

No, never removed one of the files. I do have McAfee, but it's never caused a problem on an upgrade until the terrain change (2.13 or 2.14)

This has happened to me 2 patches ago.  Don't know why.  I used auto update and have not removed any folders.  This was the first and only time this has happened
