too fast IMO, the seem to be running at about 30kts at all times, if you drop a tbm torp behind the carrier from 500m back it will take 4 min to catch it.

Use a pt boat. Their speed guage shows about 33 knots or MPH for fleet.

Fleet doesn't have a ground speed! It has a water speed.

too fast, seeing as how you cannot control the speed, i for one would like to park the fleet for bombardment from time to time, or at least slow it down.

Essex Class carrier: top speed of 38 mph
Baltimore Class cruiser: top speed 38 mph

Cruising speed for both ships? 27 mph

Yeah, I did play confirmed kill and figher ops, the early versions of warbirds.

As for the ground speed of the fleets I did a little test with the pt boat and it goes about 35 mph (that's what the pt boat speedometer says).  Thanks to all who responded!

If you wondering why I needed it.. I calculated the amount of 'lead' I would have to have on a ship when dropping a bomb from higher altitudes in bombers.
