Identify this naval aircraft

The final production version of this aircraft began deliveries to the U.S. Navy in March of 1939. Fifty of these were diverted to France in 1940. At the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor, two squadrons of these biplanes were assigned to the carrier Hornet. Identify the aircraft.

Is it some 2 seat version of the F2F or F3F?

Looks like the original Helldiver.   SBC I think.

You're getting close. It did share its name and distinctive vertical stabilizer shape with the SB2C of WWII.

This is the Curtiss SBC-4 Helldiver. The example shown was serving with a Naval Reserve unit.
