I lost the second trigger level on mine.  I've take apart other joysticks and I'm sure I could get this one apart too I just don't want to risk messing it up on accident.  Wouldn't be hard to take apart.  A couple phillips screws on the right side, would void a warranty on it though.  If you've never done it and you like your joystick I would suggest not messing with it, but if you're willing to take a risk you can take it apart and take a look.  Of course that doesn't mean you'll be able to figure out or fix the problem.

I suppose you could look at the warranty, I'm not much of a guy who takes advantages of warranties, too much of a hassle for a small problem IMO, but also an option.

Taking apart an X-25 isn't as easy as it looks. The stick is quite literally boobytrapped. There's a small circuit board on the bottom that has the connector to the throttle on it, and it's connected to the rest of the joystick with a myriad of tiny wires that have been hotglued in a specific place so that they'll tear off if you aren't EXTREMELY careful. To get it all the way apart, you'll need a butane torch to melt the hot glue without stripping the wires. Even then, I was never able to figure out how to actually get to the point where I could take the handle apart, even of a stick that was beyond repair (and I was thereby not too worried about trashing it). It's pretty much set up to where you have to dismantle the entire stick's guts to get to the handle, including removing the Hall Effect sensors and most of the circuitry.

You'll get a hoot out of the fact that 90% of the stick's weight comes from metal bars stuck to (electrical taped, IIRC...but I don't really remember) the bottom of the stick. :lol It's actually pretty empty inside for how big and heavy it is.

I've taken the bottom of the joystick off before when one of my axises (whats the plural of axis?) started messing up.  One axis was working perfectly but the other had almost no response or it was jumping around ridiculously.  I took the bottom off, quite easy, 4 screws, and took a look.  I found the 3 wires from the joystick input to chip, disconnected the wires and reconnected them.  Joystick worked fine.

But I wouldn't think you would need to mess with the base at all to take apart the handle.  I see 4 screws on the right side of the handle (recessed into the handle).  Looking closer at it you'll need an allen wrench to take apart the front "shield" part, again 4 screws.  The problem is the small chips, springs, and wires running delicately through the stick.  They should stay in place if you take apart the handle carefully.  After that you have to get everything back into the right place so you don't jerk out any wires or make other buttons not work.

You know what? That really bugs me. I got stumped by the fact that the pinkie switch seemingly won't come off (because the height adjustment knob won't come off), but I never even realized it could possibly just come straight off away from the front of the stick. Dhur. :rofl

The knurled height adjustment knob has a cover to it and inside is a "wrong-way-threaded" screw.

Once that is off and the guard is lose from the bottom of the stick it's pretty straight forward to take the rest of it apart.

My pinky switch broke, I took it apart and found a "tiny" plastic, non repairable lever that actaully worked the microswitch for the pinky button. I put it back together minus that part and just remapped the controls around the pinky switch, as no alternative. I've since purchased a CH Fighterstick and use it in conjunction with my Saitek throttle. Its  great setup now and I have not had to calibrate my "CH" since installation.
