Greziz wish

I would love to see the use of perks to perform odd field modifications for instance I would love to fly a p39Q with the wing 30 cals of the D no nose fifty guns to save weight and no 37mm cannon to save more weight leaving me with a far more clean and light manueverable p39 with just 4 30 cal guns granted p39 holds an amazing amount of 30 cal ammo ^.^ as is I tend to shoot out the excess ammo in my 39D's on take off as it saves me roughly 200-400 ish lbs I can't remember the real number but it does increase my climb by a small fraction and overall just feels like flying with less fuel and is nice but would really like to simply remove the clunky 37mm weight and 50 cal nose mg weight. Or perhaps use perks to do a sorta field mod like upgrade the engine which was done on several p39's by the russians. or hell I would pay 200 perks to be able to fly a p39 with an unauthentic paint scheme of neon pink for the demoralizing shame factor of slaying people in an inferior ew plane in lw theater  :devil

I would prefer that there are no custom planes.  It opens up a whole can of worms that would not be benificial to AH. :aok

And would bring out all the min/max'ers that figure out how to take advantage of the system.

If it is ever implemented it would strickly be for field mods that actually happened in service.

I doubt many p39's had their 37mm cannons stripped out.

While I doubt solid information is ever going to be available, I would think that you are probably right.  While the 37mm gun was a bit of a devil (at least in USAF service) and ground crews were never able to solve the notorious gun jams that pilots experienced in the field. The gun and ammunition added much needed ballast in the front of the plane critical to the CG. The gun weighed in at some 238lbs, pilots also reported that handling characteristics changed and the plane could get a little squirrely once the ammunition had been depleted and the CG slid a little further aft.

Yeah I figured I would fly a little funny with my cg moved a bit but nothing I don't already abuse. I love the 39Q with empty mg's that I can make that plane snap roll 1-3 rotations and come out any facing I want. I try never to do more than 4 as I lose to much airspeed to make the overshot feasible with me gaining an advantage.

I would rather have 4 .50s on that plane instead of the 37mm.  I've flown that plane quite a bit and it seems to me that the 37mm unless directly on 6 or a 12 oclock dead on turn shot that it don't have the pop it should.  200 yrd deflection shot for instance thats just me anyone else notice that?

It has some pop, it's just hitting with it that I struggle with.  I think I've only had a single engine fighter survive a hit once in my time with the P-39D. Bombers are a tougher nut to crack because you need to score 2+ hits in the same area to cripple it and I'm just not good enough to do that. :)
