You might want to put some text there describing what the link directs one to.
Something like,

Here's a story about a f106 fighter that landed itself after the pilot ejected.  It's a good read.

While of course doing the right thing by ejecting, I bet the poor guy never heard the end of it. :lol

Here's a bit similar case from Finland:

http://www.ejection-history.org.uk/Country-By-Country/Finland.htm

One of the MiG-21F-13's main gears wouldn't come down, so the pilot had to eject. IIRC the pilot used up all the fuel and trimmed it to level flight so that it would contact the ground roughly 100km away from the point of ejection in an area with no habitation. The airframe stayed "relatively" intact but the damage was still too excessive to even think about a repairing it to flying condition but the airframe was used as an instructional piece.

Poor pilot....

 :joystick:

Then the damn plane crash lands itself about as good as any pilot could manage.

 :rofl

Awesome find!

Apparently its not that uncommon.....

Quote
There is a rather interesting story concerning ejections from Canadian CF-18s and I'm going to bet it's a one off in the entire World? Aircraft 188761, as you have listed on your site as having been ejected from successfully as "over Yellowknife" IN June 2004, was this is not quite the case. The Pilot actually ejected while the aircraft was still on the runway, the aircraft came to a stop by itself without over running the runway and actually had to be shut down by response crews. There was minimal damage and the aircraft was repaired, a new seat installed and put back in service. It is flying today.

If this was not enough, the fact that a single seat fighter was ejected from and was able to be repaired (wait for it) this is the second time that this has occurred to this particular aircraft. It was ejected from during an aborted take-off from a Base in England during the late eighties. The aircraft was extensively damaged in that accident and in fact was broken in two. The Pilot (who shall remain nameless) was not injured. Six years and countless dollars later MBB in Manching Germany put the aircraft back in service. I was there to watch it fly away (on a pair of Wings purchased from Australia and a "C" model nose section that was originally intended for a Spanish aircraft transplanted to an "A" model fuselage.)

This is both concerning and interesting....

21st April 2004
USMC    FA-18A         VMFA-112    Aircraft failed to return to base during night training event

Anyone know what happened, if they even discovered a crash site?

Let me just say this.  At another time that this happened when someone posted a description about the link and the reposted the link, the thread wasn't locked.  The OP had his post skuzzified, but the thread wasn't locked.
