FATDOG31- Navy aviator-retired. We are really proud to have him in the 31st. Was flying before breakout of WWII and taught many a pilot Carrier OPs. Started on an F3F, before F4F's were Fleet standard. Flew many different planes throughout his career and is vast fountain of knowledge. Loves to play this game, although his eyes have been giving him trouble. Talks of many of the people we hear of as legends today. He flew with a few of them.

Aside from the obvious Hawaii (which wasn't a state at the time), didn't a few Japanese balloon bombs actually make it to State side and do some damage? I think it was up in the Northwest.

Believe it was Oregon.  It killed around 6 people, a pastor's wife and 5 of their Sunday school students that were in the woods.  I also believe the Japanese shelled some of the oil fields around Santa Barbara as well.

Alaska, Washington, Oregon, California, Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, Texas, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota, Michigan and Iowa were the states hit.Detroit area was farthest thier bombing came, and mexico was hit. millions of acres burned but no one died to the bombing during the war. IT was against the law to report on bombs landing in america. They were afraid of chemical bombs and nerve bombs coming next if they knew how many were hitting American soil. ^ people did die from bombs in 80's. They found bomb put it in car started to drive home and it went off. A geologist in 1940s study the sand in bags for wieght and told us gov where bombs were being launched and we carpeted the island with bombs.
