"And one of the finest aircraft I ever flew was the Macchi C.205. Oh, beautiful. And here you had the perfect combination of italian styling and german engineering .... it really was a delight to fly ... and we did tests on it and were most impressed." - Captain Eric Brown

Don't forget the F7F.

We're not going KAH, we are going for humor.

F6F-5, TBF, Dauntless, VAL, G4M, Kate

For those who argue against adding the F6F because of "too many US planes", Gimmie a break. In you're unfailing support of "Axis" planes, you overlooking the big picture. You should realize that a "Naval" addition without the Hellcat would be totaly incomplete. It would be unrealistic for any naval scenario for it to not be added. the -5 is latewar enough to compete with the rest of the planeset in MA as well. If i remember right, the F6F was the most produced naval fighter of the war. I doubt the F4F will be added as it's an obsolete design compared to the A6M5. P-40 would be nice, but until they dedicate an entire release to the "early war" i doubt we'll see any of those planes.

For you anti-cannon hawg peeps, don't give arrestor hooks to the -1C's

With the above planes, added with naval forces, you can recreate, and generate totaly new and different scenarios from marine fighter groups (I.E. Blacksheep Squadron, VMF-214) to fleet engagements.
IMHO well rounded, and a benefit to all.

I'd like to see a KI-61 added too, but, i don't see it coming in this version

Hamish,
You realize that there are aircraft that are neither US nor Axis.  That was a pretty rude thing to say.

I think that the F6F-3 or 5 will be in the next release, but please lets not embarass ourselves by claiming that it is either American or Axis.  The Russians and British fought hard as well, and in their own aircraft.

Is AH sloooowly becoming domintated by US aircraft? I think that it would be good to feature a wider spread of aircraft from other nations. The main thing that stops me getting an AH account is the certain lack of variety - just my HO, but there you go. Or is AH going to feature permanent historical arenas where only certain aircraft fly? (A dumb newbie question, I know, but I'm just wondering...)

Jerry, I think your way off on the "US Bias" thing, at least as it pertains to this future release.

Did you know the UK also flew F6F's? (And F4F, and F4U's, and ...   )

If your doing a Naval version it pretty much leaves out the Russians, Germans, Italians, and other small countries aircraft.

So that leaves you with the US, Japan, and Britain to a lesser extent, in the PAC Theater. Yes, I know Carriers and Escort Carriers were used somewhat in the Atlantic and Mediterranean, but they were not historically significant compared to the PAC.

So if you look at PAC Theater CV capable fighters, the glaring omission from AH is the F6F.

Now I do agree with you that I would have preffered to see a Japanese Torpedo Bomber (which we may still get) over the TBF, but again it was an obvious choice.

Okay then, I rephrase that a bit: doesn't it seem that AH is being slooowly dominated by Allied aircraft? Or, isn't it slowly being transformed into a Pacific-based sim? With the variety of Soviet an German aircraft to use, it doesn't seem like much attention is being paid to those theatres. Lol - perhaps I'm just fed up with the MA...?

Jerry,
How is it being Pacific dominated?

We have 4 (N1K2, A6M5b, F4U-1A, F4U-1C), soon to be 6(F6F-5, TBF), Pacific aircraft.

The last release, 1.04, added the Lancaster MkIII, Ju88A-4 and Ostwind.  None of those are Pacific aircraft (or even American, for that matter).

The 1.03 series added the Fw190A-5, Yak-9U, A6M5b Zero, P-47D-25, P-47D-30 and M3.  Yes, quite a bit of American stuff, but only one Pacific aircraft, the Zero.

What is wrong with Pacific aircraft anyways?  We have several Japanese players and many American players like the Pacific theatre anyways, flying either American or Japanese aircraft.

I agree that it would be nice to see more Russian, Italian, Japanese and British aircraft, but IT is primarily an American market.  They need to make money.

I didn't say it was. And there's nothing wrong with a Pacific Theatre. Put it this way - it'd be nice if we had more theatre-specific and/or period specific permanent arenas. MA is more of a mish-mash which is starting to look like it's leaning in in one direction. Sure, it'd need a few more planes, but I think it would open the game out more and perhaps make HT some more cash. This may be even more of an issue once WW2 On-line is released. Variety is the spice of life

In my opinion the politicaly correct solution would be this:

US planes: F6f

UK planes: Hawker Sea Hurricane Mk.IIc

German planes: Ju88 with torpedoes

Japanese planes: Aichi B7A2 Ryusei

Italian planes: Sm.79 torpedo bomber

My apologies if i offended you karnak, it was unintentional, i wasn't trying to claim it was either "U.S." or "Axis" i was attempting in a poor manner to direct that toward the insessant (it seems) whining about too many "U.S. Planes" and not enough "Axis" planes. I am fully aware that it was more than just the U.S. in WWII, but, how prevalent were the naval firepower of the brits or the russians? i am thinking pretty miniscule. The most prevalent use of Naval power was in the Pacific theater by the IJN/USN. and that means USN/IJN planes added. Although i may have to agree with the guys above who mentioned the SM.79, never been done to my knowledge before and would definately be a neat addition but i think it would be dogmeat in this arena.

Funny - this is what I like about the AH community - sometimes asking simple questions is seen as 'whining'. Very constructive

There was a variant of the Il-2 that saw combat that carried a torpedo
