I can't remember in resent years that my squad was tasked with the B5N and we survived. Our escorts:
Fencer -334th FG
Pope14 - LYNCHMOB
did a great job. Out of 19 pilots we only lost 3. One had a pilot wound (ack) and two were shot down. Those that were shot down opted to dive bomb (felt their skills were better suited to that then level bombing) which took them down to the enemy.

Would have posted some screens, but only saw a couple P40's and they were way below us and no threat at all after Fencer and squad pushed them all down.  :salute

Are you saying that my offer to proofread the orders was unnecessary? :devil

Thanks it was a good night overall I believe.  Both sides had plenty that got home alive and quite a few people were able to get in a second mission and land before the finish.  Those are the elements that make for a successful FSO.

Baumer deserves great credit for designing an FSO where rides like Kates are able to make it to their target and back and not be simply throw away items added for colour.  Marvellous.
I get really really tired of selective realism disguised as a desire to make bombers easier to kill.
