Of course, as few people are reading release notes at all, I saw many a base capture fail when the troops simply vanished seconds before entering the maproom - the releasing player had obviously upped another m3 :D

still see it occasionally... and the ptboat torps too  :rofl

Didn't Hitech change it so anything dropped and bailed on is considered dead?  I thought this was fixed.

Only if the bailer launches again.
If you like the Sick Puppy Custom Sound Pack the please consider contributing for future updates by sending a months dues to Hitech Creations for account "Chalenge." Every little bit helps.

I doubt this happens much in LW arenas but happens enough in MW to drive me nuts.  It should not be possible to drop troops, bail from your M3 or Goon and the base stop flashing while troops still running.  This needs to be changed so that if you bail either all your troops die regardless if you respawn or not or at least leave the base flashing still.  Makes it WAY to easy to sneak bases in MW.

With respect, I think this is about the dumbest idea I've read or seen from AH2. Sorry, but no matter what happens to the pilot, the troops are out on their parachute or running. I've just noticed recently troops disappearing after all 10 are running to the maproom cause the C-47 on the ground was killed. That's hogwash! What's a flying C-47 suppose to do? Keep flying around avoiding being blown up and the parachutes disappearing? I can see it now. A revision of Band of Brothers. The troops get out but the C-47 is hit by flak so all the troops in parachutes automatically die. Germans keep Normandy, we lose WW2. Germans would've loved that. This ain't f* HALO3. It's a WW2 flight sim. Keep the reality and deal with it, HiTech! If you don't see the base flash for the long minutes that it does while the C47 flies there (or M3) then you ought to lose the base. Besides, if it's a problem, make the troops flash the base. I respectfully request that it gets changed back.

Same goes for bombs. Their out they fall to the ground. Always had a problem with bombs disappearing at a low altitude. If there's such a thing as an arming factor then they hit the ground like drop tanks do. But this vanishing thing needs to go.

Taking a base is taking a base. It doesn't matter if you took the base in 1 minute or 100 winning a base is winning a base. Just kill the goon besides if you got at the least a guy with a pistol, base is saved. Now let this post die.

You are correct -- your statement is hogwash.  Troops will keep running as long as the killed pilot does not re-up an aircraft or GV.  Same with bombs -- they will continue to fall unless the pilot re-ups.

This is to prevent the gamey practice often used before of incessantly upping LVTs and dropping troops in dry-spawn islands, or upping PTs at spawns, and launching dozens if not hundreds of torps in quick succession at a passing task force.  You can still launch your torps and let them run, but if you re-up to do it again, the original salvo disappears.

Had you paid any attention to the readme files about 8 patches ago, you would know this.

The comment I responded to was made just yesterday, not 4 months ago.  So thanks for playing.

You silly boy.  Viking73 posted on April 1.  In his April 1 post, he mentions troops and ords disappearing.  I responded to his April 1 post, which last I checked, is not last November.

Thanksforplayingbubye.

no, wasn't April Fools joke. Guncrasher, odd you would post on something that you want to die therefore keeping it alive. Besides, why start up another fresh thread when there's one already addressing the issue? Just  adds more threads. As an admin you want less threads and more posts.

Watched a strange thing happen yesterday. A guy dropped his troops and then crashed. Troops didn't disappear but he only got 4 out. Watched the troops run into the maproom. So many things happening in this game anymore.

troops will keep running for as long as the pilot stays in the tower.  even if only one got out, it will run.  and the old days troops will just keep running and people would up m3 after m3 and you would see hundreds of troops running, was a joke.  now the troops will not die If the pilot that brought them remains in the tower.  If he ups in anything troops will die.  same thing for rockers or bombs.

troops disappeared because the guy upped another plane or gv, not because he got killed or crashed.  troops will keep running as long as the original pilot stays in the tower.  At least that's how its supposed to work.

All weapons are destroyed at the start of the next sortie because if they were not, they would be scored on the next sorties mission/plane type.
