Open top vehicles
« on: November 21, 2009, 09:14:01 AM »
Any open topped vehicle running troops should not be able to give the troops protection from straffing aircraft.  As it is now they have the same damage model as the GV that is carring them until they exit the GV.  I made several passes on M3's and LVT's and get the engine smoking and so on but ten little troops go free.  Any chance?

Canvas, it not quite so stiff as aluminium, Oleg. And the blood, it should go all over the landscape when open-top vehicle hit, but it stay inside C-47 until the big door, it open.

Saburo Sakai described a G4M 'Betty' landing after a mission with blood dribbling out of the many bullet holes in the fuselage.  Only the engineer was still uninjured and he'd flown it back, erratically mind you, and the pilot, the only other survivor, woke up just in time to land it.

You can get a pilot wound in a c47 right?

The troops start bailing out early when the pilot dies.

Logically speaking, if you strafed an open top vehicle, wouldn't it kill the troops inside since they have no protection?

Logically, yes, but we're talking AH Wonderland here, Banshee, where the men are indestructible until their transport gets wiped out. All except the driver, of course.

Personally I've never gotten a PW in a C47...usually die first.
