That's in Armstrong County, Texas.  I don't actually see any cities though? It's SE of Amarillo.

Are we supposed to have a city in it?  I wasnt sure.  You are right on location.... it was the geological feature I was posting.

Nope, it doesn't have to have a city in it. I just use the cities as the reference point when answering. :)
Keeps me from having to do the lat-longs or anything like that :)

This one is in Texas. I hope I already didn't post this one - I've got it tabbed off in google earth, since I was interested in the little red & green pools there.

Hint: It's in the Western half of Texas (which is probably already apparent from the landscape).

Well I am going to rule out the area around Midland and Odessa. Its gotta be more south and west than there due to the landscape that is visible. It also doesn't look like anything around Lubbock either.

Sorry for the delay! And I'm so sorry for the horribly pinpointed picture! I didn't realize how tiny it was until you asked me for alt. (about 5000 ft.)

Yes, I'd say SW is entirely accurate.

Here's the same picture from about 100 miles up.

What a dummy. I didn't read your "staying in northern hemisphere" remark until AFTER I'd been looking in the southern hemisphere for an hour.

I bet you're in the right area.

I didn't notice before that there's no compass rose on the picture, either - I was only looking on the eastern side of everything assuming that north was up in the picture.

I doubt very much it's Japan. Japanese streets are not so parallel because of no right of eminent domain. No dirt oval tracks either.
